Men's Soccer: Titans Suffer Season-Ending Loss to First-Place W&J

October 30, 2010NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team's season came to an end Saturday with a 6-1 loss to Washington & Jefferson at home in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action. The Titans finish the season 3-12-3 and 2-5 in the PAC. First-place W&J is now 12-3-2 overall and 7-0 in the PAC.
Senior midfielder Jarred Smeltzer (Wilmerding, Pa./East Allegheny) scored the lone goal for the Titans in the 79th minute to cut W&J's lead to 5-1. Smeltzer finished the season with a team-high seven goals.
Thad Piscatelli scored three goals for the Presidents in the 32nd, 76th, and 83rd minutes. Mike Pappas also scored two goals, including one in the 23rd minutes and another in the 34th minute to give W&J a 4-0 halftime lead.
Sam Sesito netted the first goal of the game in the eighth minute.
Westminster senior goalkeeper Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) made five saves for the Titans, who were outshot 10-5.
