NEW CASTLE, Pa.-- Orange barrels, flashing lights, crossovers and other traffic restricts are now greet drivers using the Interstate-79 and Route 422 interchange.

PennDOT says work crews are beginning a $14 million improvement project at the interchange on Exit 99 in Muddy Creek Township in Butler County near the Lawrence County line.   The project includes rebuilding two bridges and a ramp.

PennDOT recently completed bridge reconstruction on the nearby Route 19 interchange that crosses over Route 422.  I-79’s Exit 99 is a major interchange used by Lawrence County drivers.  It’s also heavily used for visitors traveling to Moraine and McConnells Mill state parks.
