NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- Westminster's yearly homecoming stands as one of the most important events at the college. To pull off such an extravaganza, people like Mary James spend a large portion of their time planning and working toward this one very special weekend. James works as the college's Director of Alumni Relations. She helps schedule and plan different gatherings that take place during homecoming. Events like alumni dinners and class reunions help draw people back to their Alma Mater.
"It's hard to get an exact count, but we're looking forward to campus full of alums and having a great weekend with them."
James faced an unusual challenge in recent years: how to reunite graduates once they come back to Westminster. To solve this problem, they placed different tents outside the campus center for each decades. They invited alumni from each time period to meet at their respective tents after the homecoming game.
James said this unique solution helped bring old friends back together.
Westminster's homecoming rolls around during the final week of September.
