Let The Training Begin!

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa -- Training begins for new part time police officer in New Wilmington. Borough officials reported at this month's meeting that Officer John Melnik begins training next week.  

Police Chief Carmen Piccirillo said that Melnik received his approval and temporary number from MOPEC 2 days ago and that his training will start next week.

MOPEC stands for Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission.

Melnik signed his Borough paperwork and was sworn in on November 6th.

Since Mayor Wendell Wagner was not available, District Judge David Cercone swore Melnik in as a member of the NWPD.
