Despite the economic recession, more and more students want to attend college at Westminster setting a new record for the school. The incoming class has hit a record high of 470, prompting college officials to launch a waiting list for those wanting to enroll at the New Wilmington-based campus.
"Westminster remains one of the great higher education values for those students choosing a high quality, student-focused, and highly personalized college experience," Westminster President Dr. Richard Dorman said.

The natatorium at Memorial Field House saw some 110 students show up on Saturday, September 5, for a chance to pass the final swimming proficiency test. Those who passed won a waiver for the college required aquatics course.
The college will now no longer offer the "test out" option, meaning all students must complete a swimming class in order to graduate.
Each WC student must completed a swimming class before she or he can receive a degree.
Passing an aquatics course is part of a tradition of teaching young men and women a life-long skill.

NEW WILMINGTON, Lawrence County-- Student Government Association's annual Volley Rock tournament attracted lots of attention on the first Saturday of May. SGA holds the all day tournament each year during the weekend before finals. It is an opportunity for the campus to come together and compete in a friendly manner for prizes.
Rain forced Westminster to move graduation inside to Memorial Field House as more than 330 students received degrees. The 155th commencement ceremonies were the first at Westminster for President Rick Dorman who helped lead the processional. The Westminster College Celebrity Series will bring the children's show, Magic Tree House: The Musical, to the stage of Orr Auditorium Thursday, May 14, at 7 p.m.

Broadcast Communications students witnessed Tuesday night's live broadcast of WQED-TV's "On Q" magazine as part of a field trip this week.
Some 14 majors traveled to Pittsburgh for a behind the scenes look at the nightly show and toured the WQED Multimedia facilities which also include WQED-FM and Pittsburgh Magazine.

Westminster's chapter of the National Classics Honor Society celebrated the Roman festival of Floralia in the Tub on Thursday bearing free cake for everyone. Cakes decorated with colorful flowers marked the ancient Roman festival celebrating spring and blooming flowers.
Theatre Westminster and Alpha Psi Omega, the theater honorary fraternity on campus, staged an open house on Tuesday where visitors had a chance to sit in on rehearsals for the upcoming production of Pride and Prejudice.
The open house idea comes from visiting theater lecturer, designer & technical director Paula Ferguson. WCN's Allyson King introduces you to Ferguson who's professional career with the theater is helping shape this year's Theatre Westminster productions.
Westminster College inducted 77 students into Pi Sigma Pi at the April 25 Honors Convocation in Orr Auditorium.
Westminster College junior broadcast communications majors, in collaboration with Titan Traverse staff, staged their version of reality TV's The Amazing Race as a class project.
"It was a fun and exciting activity that was so much better than a test final," Junior BC major Allyson King said.

Beneath the lower side of the manicured Westminster Quad lies a forgotten passageway. Buried under the sidewalks and the lawn is a piece of the institution's past that offered a link for the women who once lived in Browne and Ferguson halls.
The Old Main bell tower rises over the Westminster campus and serves as the symbol of Westminster College. The tower houses a set of 42 bells known as a carillon.
Most people have never seen what's inside the tower or seen the carillon up close and in action. WCN's Thomas Miller takes our cameras high above the campus for a chance to see how the bells ring out in New Wilmington.

Westminster classes wrap up on Tuesday, April 5. However, to preserve a balanced number of Monday, Wednesday and Friday classes for the semester, Tuesday will serve as a Friday at Westminster.
