Wilmington Area High School football star Derrick Burns will return to Greyhound Stadium for another football season for his senior year this fall, however the running back and linebacker will head to the University of Pittsburgh in 2010. Burns will receive a full ride to the University by joining the Panther football squad after graduating high school following in the footsteps of his older brother and Pitt running back Chris Burns. The younger Burns has given his verbal commitment to Pitt. In fact, he was the first commitment for 2010 the Panthers received.

The fast foot work of Derrick Burns and Sutton Whiting help propel Wilmington's football squad to another victory Friday night as the Hounds defeated Slippery Rock 40-0.
Wilmington's football squad traveled to Carter Field in Titusville on Friday night and the evening fizzled for the Rockets as the Hounds came out on top 35 to 0.
The Slippery Rock Rockets come to Greyhound Stadium for a game to broadcast on live television. WCN will carry the game on Friday night on Comcast Cable in Lawrence County and on Armstrong Cable in Lawrence, Mercer and Butler counties.
The game rebroacasts across Pennsylvania on Saturday night, Oct. 31, as the Pennsylvania Cable Network carries the WCN telecast as it's PCN Game of the Week.
