Faculty & staff now offered H1N1 vaccine

The Westminster Student Health Center is offering H1N1 vaccine to all members of the college community next week.

Earlier in the flu season, vaccine on campus and across Pennsylvania was restricted to high risk populations, including college students under the age of 24. However, now supply of vaccine allows state health officials to approve it's distribution to anyone interested in receiving it.

Planetarium Upgrades

There's one place on campus with a domed ceiling where people tend to sit in the dark and soon it will get a makeover.

The changes at he planetarium including people and things. Dr. Samuel Lightner, who directed the planetarium for many years, recently retired recently putting new Planetarium Director Thomas Oberst in charge of overseeing some major changes and improvements to the facilities this winter.

Concert Choir and Chamber Singers on Winter Tour

Westminster College's Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will sing at a variety of locations in eastern Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey on their annual tour, Jan. 7-14, 2010.

Under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster director of choral activities, the group of 44 students is scheduled to begin the "Sing Joyfully" tour with a stop in Harrisburg for a midday performance Thursday, Jan. 7. They will meet with Westminster alumni Rosie Hassell and Chris Latta, who will lead a tour of the state Capitol. The choir will present a concert at Faith Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg at 7 p.m.

Hands for Haiti college during basketball games

The Westminster College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will collect donations during Wednesday night's home men's and women's basketball doubleheader vs. Saint Vincent to support the Haiti earthquake relief fund.

In addition, a portion of the gate receipts from the two games will be combined with the SAAC solicitation efforts to support the Haiti relief. The Westminster SAAC effort is a part of an overall Westminster College campus campaign "Hands for Haiti" to raise funds for three Care organizations.

Dazzling performances continue to be cranked out at Westminster's Beeghly Theatre.

Theater students, theater minors, and anyone else interested in theater can participate. But, most people are unaware that the Theatre Westminster wasn't always a set program.

In the 1920's Westminster featured the Little Theater inside Old Main where the Registrar's Office is now located.

To help celebrate Theatre Westminster's 80th anniversary, reporter Lee Biermeyer tracks down some Westminster alumni familiar with the theatrical tradition at Old Westminny, including a few who remember the details about the old Little Theater.

Plan points Westminster 10-years into the future

Westminster College is checking its compass as it navigates into the future with a new 10-year strategic plan unveiled for the 158 year old institution.

The college wants to support faculty and staff with resources to grow programs of study and strengthen Westminster's academic reputation, but at the same time find ways to keep tuition rates in check.

So what's it all mean for faculty, staff and students?

WCN 24/7's Kylee Bennett sat down with President Dorman as he outlines what's in the 10-year plan and how the college will make sure it's on track.

Art Class Offers Students Good Experience
