After spending an entire week training in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the Westminster College men's and women's track and field teams opened up their 2010 outdoor seasons on Saturday by competing in the Coastal Carolina University Invitational.
A woman who lived in Slippery Rock until August was found dead Monday in her new hometown, an apparent victim of an animal attack.
Candice Berner, 32, a graduate of Slippery Rock University, was found outside Chignik Lake where she was running. Alaska State Troopers are investigating the possibility that she was killed by a pack of wolves.
Berner at one time worked for Slippery Rock University. She earned both her master's and bachelor's from the university before moving back to Alaska.
