BRADFORD, Pa. - Despite shooting 55.1% from the floor, the Westminster College men's basketball team lost 66-64 at Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday night for its first loss of the season. The Titans dropped to 2-1 overall and the Panthers improved to 3-0.

Westminster had an early 7-2 lead when junior All-PAC Player of the Week Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) made a three-pointer with 17:14 on the clock. The five-point margin was the largest in the first half as both teams fought to hold onto the lead. Pitt-Bradford, down 30-29 with a minute left before halftime, took a 33-30 lead after back-to-back layups.

The game continued to be close in the second half as there were five ties. Penn-State started to pull away with 5:35 on the clock when they led 60-50, its largest lead of the game. Westminster, however, battled back and went on a 14-4 run to tie it 64-64 with 41 seconds left when Thomas scored a layup from a fastbreak. The Panthers responded on their next possession when Tyler Ferguson scored the game-winning jumper.

Thomas led the offense with 16 points (6-of-9) and a game-high four assists. Freshman Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) followed with career-highs of 11 points (4-of-8)  and seven rebounds. Also scoring in double digits for the Titans were seniors Adam Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin), Doug Smith (South Park, PA / South Park), and Ron Martino (Youngstown, OH / Cardinal Mooney) who earned 10 points each.

Westminster will travel to Washington & Jefferson next Wednesday in its Presidents' Athletic Conference opener. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
