Men's Basketball: Titans Drop to Grove City, 76-45

GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 76-45, at Grove City Wednesday night. The Titans dropped to 7-16 overall and 3-12 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while the Wolverines improved to 10-14 overall and 6-9 in the conference.


Down 10-2 with 14:20 on the clock in the first half, the Titans went on a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the game (11-10) with 12:12 remaining. The Wolverines responded and finished the half with a 26-4 run and led 36-15 at halftime. Grove City maintained its double-digit lead for the duration of the game and had its largest lead of 35 points when it led 66-31 with 5:28 remaining.


For the game, Grove City out-shot Westminster 47.5% (28-for-59) to 29.1% (16-for-55) and out-rebounded the Titans 52-34.


Junior Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) led Westminster with 10 points (4-for-6). Senior Reuben King (Tarentum, PA / Highlands) and freshman Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) followed with seven and six points, respectively. Senior Doug Smith (South Park, PA / South Park) grabbed down a team-high six rebounds.


Westminster will play its final regular season game on Saturday at Geneva at 7:30 p.m.
