Men's Basketball: Titans Fall, 83-77, Against PAC Foe Thomas More

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team fell, 83-77, to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thomas More Wednesday night. The Titans dropped to 6-15 overall and 2-11 in the PAC, while the Saints improved to 19-3 overall and 12-1 in the conference.
The Titans had a 12-8 lead with 13:34 on the clock in the first half after a layup from senior Adam Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin). With the game tied at 18 with 8:43 remaining in the half, the Saints outscored the Titans 20-10 to take a 38-28 halftime lead.
Thomas More had its largest lead when it led 54-36 with 14:54 on the clock in the second half. The Titans cut the Saints' lead to 61-54 after an 18-7 run with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Westminster got as close as four points from Thomas More's lead (77-73) when senior Doug Smith (South Park, PA / South Park) found Carswell for a layup with 2:34 remaining.
Carswell led the Titans with a game- and season-high 19 points (8-for-10). Also scoring in double-digits for Westminster were Smith (13), senior Ron Martino (Youngstown, OH / Cardinal Mooney) (12), and senior Reuben King (Tarentum, PA / Highlands) (11). Freshman Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) led on the glass with a game-high nine rebounds. Junior Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) dished-out a game-high eight assists.
Josef Marshall and Chris Richard led Thomas More with 16 points each. Richard also had a team-high seven rebounds.
The Titans will play their final home regular season game on Saturday when they host Waynesburg at 4 p.m.
