Men's Soccer: Titan Open PAC Play with 3-1 Win Over Saint Vincent

LA TROBE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team defeated host Saint Vincent, 3-1, on Saturday in both team's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener. The Titans improved to 7-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the PAC, while the Bearcats dropped to 5-5-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Freshman Stephen McDaniel (Jamestown, NC / Southwest Guilford) scored the first goal of the game at the 22:32 mark in the first half when he received a through ball from classmate Ethan McCarthy (New Castle, PA / Neshannock). This was McDaniel's fourth goal of the year.
Another Titan freshman gave the Titans a 2-0 lead, three minutes later, when Austin Ewers (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington Area) scored his third goal of the season as he made a breakaway after he received a pass from classmate Marcus Gurgiolo (Edinburg, PA / Mohawk Area).
Saint Vincent broke the shutout with a score at the 49:29 mark in the second half. Westminster junior David Osae (Bedford, TX / Lawrence D. Bell) added insurance with his second goal of the year with 76:17 on the clock. Freshman Cody Postupac (Export, PA / Penn Trafford) earned the assist.
Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Goalkeeper/Defensive Player of the Week senior Adam Kephart (Beaver Falls, PA / Beaver County Christian) earned a save in 90 minutes of work.
Westminster will host Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
