NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team defeated SUNY-Fredonia, 3-1, tonight in a nonconference matchup. The Titans improved to 6-2-1 overall, while the Blue Devils dropped 2-9 on the season.

Freshman Ethan McCarthy (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) put Westminster on the scoreboard first when he scored his third goal of the season at the 1:40 mark as he broke away from the Blue Devils' defense.

Westminster sophomore Ryan Francis (Harwick, PA / Springdale) added to the Titan lead with his first collegiate goal at the 36:11 mark. Francis had a free kick from 30 yards out that deflected into the back of the net. Adding additional insurance for Westminster was freshman Austin Ewers (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington Area) (46:15) who scored his second goal of the season.

SUNY-Fredonia broke the shutout with a goal off a header at the 73:23 mark.

Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Goalkeeper/Defensive Player of the Week senior Adam Kephart (Beaver Falls, PA / Beaver County Christian) had three saves in 90 minutes of work.

The Titans will travel to Saint Vincent on Saturday at 3 p.m. for their PAC opener.
