Men's Tennis: Titans Win Spring PAC Opener

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's tennis team shutout Bethany, 9-0, in both team's 2013 Spring Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener. The Titans improved to 1-9 overall, while the Bison dropped to 1-1.

Three of Westminster's singles wins came in the third set. Freshman Troy Abbott (Seven Fields, PA / Seneca Valley) (3-6, 6-2, 10-4), senior Sean Black (Aurora, OH / Aurora) (6-1, 3-6, 10-6), and sophomore Mark Andino (Norwalk, CT / Norwalk) (6-2, 2-6, 10-6) won in the third-set tiebreaker.


The Titans are back in action next Tuesday when they host PAC foe Saint Vincent at 3:30 p.m.

6. Mark Andino (WES) def. Dylan Schooley (BET) 6-2, 2-6, 10-6

Doubles competition:
1. Sean Black/Troy Abbott (WES) def. James Peterson/Nick Wilcox (BET) 8-3
2. Brad Thomas/Mike Matisi (WES) def. Jared Roque/Kyle Booker (BET) 8-5
3. Marshall Finelli/Ryan Carr (WES) def. Dakota Maravelis/Dylan Schooley (BET) 8-1
