NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Two members of the Westminster College men's track and field team earned recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Senior Ryan Bell (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) and junior Mark Saylor (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) were named to the 2012 USTFCCCA Division III Track & Field All-Academic Team. This was the second-straight year for Bell and Saylor to earn this award.
Bell and Saylor were two of 226 men's athletes who received this honor. To qualify, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark in an individual or relay event at some point in either indoor or outdoor seasons.
Bell's toss of 63.73m at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships guided him to his second All-American honor of his career, the first Titan to accomplish this feat. Saylor's personal-best pole vault of 4.88 meters set March 30 at Wooster just missed the cut for nationals.
