Police arrest Lawrence Co. rape suspect in Ohio

VOCATURE faces rape charges in Lawrence County.

NEW CASTLE, Pa.-- Shenango Township police say authorities in Ohio have arrested the suspect wanted for allegedly raping  a local teenager last month.

Investigators report 52-year old Todd Vocature of Lawrence County was arrested in Trumbell County as he was attempting to commit suicide at a reservoir on Thursday.  The Ohio officers said they found Vocature because of a police alert issued for the suspects car.

He is now in custody at the Summit County Jail in Ohio awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.

Local police began searching for Vocature this week after a warrant was issued for his arrest.  He faces charges he lured the victim to his home claiming he needed a babysitter.  

Investigators say Vocature bound the victim's hands and mouth with duct tape before sexually assaulting her.

The victim reported Vocture then let her go and threatened to kill himself. 

Vocature has been a registered sex offender for nearly 10 years for convictions of previous crimes.  He now faces charges including  rape, attempted rape, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors, indecent exposure, unlawful restraint and aggravated indecent assault.
