Rockers with Westminster roots shake up Fresh Start

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- Ben Portz, on keyboard, and frontman vocalist JD Eicher took the stage with the the rest of the band rocking the Fresh Start weekend at Westminster.  Members of the Class of 2016 gathered for the concert in the Berlin Lounge on Friday.  Three of the four musicians in JD Eicher and the Goodnights share a common thread with the incoming freshman.  They are alumni.

Portz ('10) recently joined the group that features alumni Ryan Kirk ('09) on drums and percussion,  Eicher ('09) on vocals and guitar.  Completing the band is Jim Merhaut on bass.

Eicher returns to campus in September with a solo acoustic performance on Friday, Sept. 21.  Titan Radio will also celebrate the band with a JD Eicher and Goodnights week leading up to that concert.  Listeners will be treated with songs from the band's two CDs as well as music and t-shirt giveaways.  You can also check out a list of concerts that features local showcases for the band by visiting the band's website.

Titan Radio and WCN are also connected with the band by the music video for the song EASY.  Broadcast Communication students Andrea Tice and Joe Ligo produced the video last year.
