NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- Westminster students stopping by the Sheetz on the Wilmington Road in Neshannock Township can now whip out their Titan Cards to pay for purchases. Those student IDs work as a debit cards for a late night Sheetz run.
This is the first time students have this opportunity to do this.
“It’s something that other slates have wanted to do for many years and unfortunately up to this point we haven’t had the technology to do so," Student Government President Tawni Darby said. "The program that our titan cards worked on previously did not support such a program in condition with an outside vendor.”
Students use their Titan Cards in the dining hall as well as the Tub and in the bookstores. The cards can pay for items or services in AV Services as well as check out books in the library. The card even works in campus vending machines while also serving as a dorm room key. Now the Titan Card world just go a little bigger.
“It is not your dine dollars and it is not your flex dollars, it is your Titan dollars," SGA Vice President Courtney Crown explained. "So the same cash you would put on your Titan Card you would use at the book store or when you run out of your dine dollars is the actually money that is used at Sheetz.”
SGA leaders say the ease factor pushed them to make the partnership with the local Sheetz store.
“It is so convenient, especially if you are on the go all the time and being off campus a lot," Darby said. "It is so helpful because you do not need a bag or cash with you."
There are some restrictions. The Titan Card will only be accepted at the WIlmington Road Sheetz. Titan Card deal excludes tobacco and alcohol.
