NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- Homecoming Week is right around the corner on the Westminster campus. Every year it is a prestigious honor for a junior to run for homecoming king and queen. The fraternities and sororities each pick one person along with an independent male and female to run for homecoming court.

This year the independent couple running will consist of Jarred Treshok and Tricia Johnston. This couple has a slight disadvantage over the couples running from fraternities and sororities. Unlike their competition they won’t have their brothers and sisters of their Greek Life as guaranteed votes. But this dynamic duo has a plan to gain votes on campus. Tricia has already setup her Facebook with a picture of herself detailing “Vote Tricia.”

So every person that visits her page will see her profile picture and know that she’s running. Jarred has a different plan, he has decided since he is a self-described “talkative person,” he will continue to talk to as many people possible on campus and let them know that he is running and he would appreciate their vote.

Both Jarred and Tricia feel that they are noble candidates to run for the independents.  “I felt I was a good representative of Westminster College, I have a lot to offer representing the independents,” said Tricia. She is a two year letterman on the softball team and can be seen at many campus social events. Jarred is no slouch himself as he is the president of the Ultimate Frisbee Club and a dedicated member of the Broadcast Communications department. “There are a couple of people in my department that said 'hey you should do this I was like yeah sure I’ll be representing Westminster College,” said Jarred.

Tricia and Jarred may be the underdog in this year’s homecoming race, but they are hoping to gain votes and shock Westminster by taking home the crowns in 2012.
