Track and Field: Titans Compete at Mid-February Meet

BEREA, Ohio - The Westminster College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Mid-February Meet on Friday. The event was hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College. The meet consisted of 11 NCAA Division III schools, seven NCAA Division II schools and one NCAA Division I school.


The Titan women placed seventh out of 18 schools with 24.50 points, while the Titan men finished 13th out of 16 schools with 12 points. Slippery Rock swept the event with the women scoring 135.70 and the men scoring 137.75.  

For the Titan women's team, junior Haley Gabor (New Kensington, PA / Ford City) led with three top-10 individual finishes. Gabor tied for fourth in the pole vault (3.20m), placed sixth in the 400 meter dash (1:02.05), and seventh in the 200 meter dash (27.45). Gabor was also part of the 4x400 meter relay team that finished third with a time of 4:30.20. Completing the quartet were freshmen Alicia Nuzzo (New Castle, PA / Neshannock), Caitlin Yakopin (Washington, PA / Washington), and Marissa Toensing (Newton Falls, OH / Newton Falls).


Nuzzo earned two other top-10 finishes in the 400 meter dash (10th/1:03.15) and in the 200 meter dash (10th/28.35).  Rounding out the top-10 finishes for the women were sophomore Jenny Jones (Erie, PA / Fort LeBoeuf) who placed sixth in the 5,000 meter run (19:38.34) and freshman Adriana DePorzio (New Castle, PA) who placed seventh in the 55m hurdles (9.03).


Senior Mark Taylor (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) led the men's team as he tied for third-place in the pole vault with a 4.57m mark. Junior Robert Brooks (Amityville, NY / Amityville) also earned a top-10 finish with a sixth-place finish in the 400 meter dash (53.74).
