Track & Field: Jones Breaks School-Record

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Sophomore Jenny Jones (Erie, PA / Fort LeBoeuf) broke a school-record in the 5,000 meter run with a tenth-place time of 19:24.24 as the Westminster College track & field teams competed at the Youngstown State University Invitational on Friday. Youngstown State played host of the non-scored meet.


Other schools that competed were Dayton, Robert Morris, Duquesne, Wright State, VMI, Slippery Rock, Malone, Westminster, Washington and Jefferson, Pitt-Johnstown, Wheeling Jesuit, Ursuline (Ohio), Buffalo State, Cuyahoga CC, Seton Hill, Cedarville and Clarion.


Also competing for the women was junior Allison Rice (Poland, OH / Poland Seminary) who earned 12th-place in the shot put with a throw of 10.93m. Senior Liv Miller (Freedom, PA / Freedom) placed 17th in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:43.01. Freshman Alicia Nuzzo (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) placed 12th in the 400m dash with a time of 1:02.20 and 32nd in the 200m dash at 28.51. Senior Morgan Swartz (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) finished 19th in the 3,000m run (11:39.71). Junior Olivia Bonavita (Aliquippa, PA / Hopewell) finished 26th in the 800m run (2:43.49).


Senior Mark Saylor (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) led the men with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault with a 4.45m mark. Sophomore Natty Schramm (Cheswick, PA / Pittsburgh Central Catholic) followed with an eighth-place finish (4.00m). Senior Chris Weeda (Wellsville, OH / Southern Local) placed 15th in the shot put with a toss of 13.10m. Junior Rob Brooks (Amityville, NY / Amityville) placed 22nd in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.80. Junior Aaron Sutton (Warren, OH / Howland) finished 25th in the 3,000m run (9:21.60). Freshman Anthony Yasko (Pittsburgh, PA) finished 26th in the 800m run with a time of 2:11.08. Senior Kyle Allen (New Wilmington, PA / West Middlesex) finished 22nd in the 200m dash at 23.60.


The Titans are back in action when they compete at Mount Union in the Jim Wuske Invitational.
