Track & Field: Titans Compete at Gator Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's and women's track and field teams competed in the 6th Annual Gator Invitational on Friday. The event was hosted by Allegheny College.
For the men, senior Caleb Smathers (Punxsutawney, PA / Punxsutawney) and freshman Natty Schramm (Jeannette, PA / Pittsburgh Central Catholic) tied for first in pole vault with a 4.70m mark. Also finishing first for the men was senior Ryan Bell (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington) in javelin with a throw of 64.99m.
On the women's side, sophomore Kristen Basista (Mineral Ridge, OH / Mineral Ridge) placed third in the 100-meter hurdles (15.21).
The 4x100 relay team placed third in the time of 49.10. The quartet consisted of seniors Mallory Mack (Carnegie, PA / Chartiers Valley) and Alisha Slater (Wooster, OH / Norwayne), Basista, and sophomore Haley Gabor (New Kensington, PA / Ford City).
Rounding out the third-place finishers for the women was senior Emily Dolsak (McDonald, OH / McDonald) in discuss with a toss of 43.78m.
Westminster will compete at North Central next Thursday and Friday in the Gregory Invitational.
