Track & Field: Women Place First, Men Sixth in PAC Invitational

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Westminster College men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Invitational on Thursday. The Titan women won out of eight schools with 153 points, while the Titan men placed sixth out of seven schools with 55 points. The invitational was hosted at Youngstown State University. 

Overall, the Titans won five events (three women, two men).

Westminster freshman Marissa Kalsey (Waynesburg, PA / Waynesburg) led the women as she placed first in the pole vault with a school-record mark of 3.74 meters. It was the second time Kalsey broke her own record of 3.55m that she set in December at the YSU Invitational. Kalsey's mark of 3.74m moved her up to seventh in the nation.

For the men, senior Aaron Sutton (Warren, OH / Howland) placed first in the 1-mile run with a school-record time of 4:35.10.

Also earning first-place for the women were the 4x400 meter relay team (school-record 4:12.58) and the distance medley team (school-record 13:38.10).

Junior Haley Gabor (New Kensington, PA / Ford City) placed second in the 200m dash (26.80), the 400m dash (school-record 59.48), and in the pole vault (3.21m).

Also earning second-place for the Titan women were freshman Adriana DePorzio (New Castle, PA) (school-record 60m hurdles/9.67), freshman Angela Colella (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) (long jump/4.90m), and junior Allison Rice (Poland, OH / Poland Seminary) (shot put/11.02m). Sophomore Cecilia Klein (York, PA / Red Lion) tied for second in the high jump with a 1.42m mark. Also breaking a school-record was senior Liv Miller (Freedom, PA / Freedom) in the 1-mile run (5:34.55).

Also for the men, Mark Saylor (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) earned first-place in the pole vault with a mark of 4.57m. Rounding out the top-2 finishes for the men was the distance medley team who placed second with a school-record time of 11:02.01. The men's 4x400 meter relay team also broke a school-record as they finished third with a time of 3:32.38.  

Westminster will begin its outdoor season when it competes at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on March 8.
