NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- The cost of going to college goes up next fall at Westminster. The Board of Trustees has approved a 3-percent increase to tuition, room, board and other fees starting next fall.
That rate increase is less than it has been in previous years. The total price tag for a Westminster education goes from $41,080 to $42,305. However, almost every student receive financial aid and discounts.
Tuition, room and board and fees also pump money into the local economy. Westminster is the second largest employer in Lawrence County with nearly 400 people on the payroll. The annual payroll at Westminster is estimated to be around $20-million.
Most other state and private universities are also expected to increase rates. Tuition at Westminster covers operations costs that cover items like heat, electricity and salaries.
