NEW CASTLE, Pa.-- (AP) — A Lawrence County man who was shot by police now faces charges accusing him of taking a hostage and firing guns inside his home before exchanging fire with officers.
On Tuesday, police revealed that 43-year-old Ivy Lanthier Jr. remained in critical condition at a Youngstown hospital where he's been since the incident early Friday in New Castle.
Online court records don't list an attorney for Lanthier who is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful restraint and other crimes. Police went to Lanthier's house about 9:30 p.m. Thursday after he reportedly held his daughter's boyfriend at gunpoint, ordered his family to leave and fired guns into the ceiling.
Police say they shot Lanthier when he fired shots from his front door shortly after midnight.
