Volleyball: Titans Split at WJ Tri-Match

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team (11-4, 5-1 PAC) split a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference matches at the Washington & Jefferson Tri-Match on Saturday. The Titans lost 3-1 (26-28, 25-22, 11-25, 15-25) against Thomas More in its first game and won 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-11) against Washington & Jefferson in the nightcap.
In game one, Westminster sophomore Kassie Freyermuth (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) led the Titans with a career-high 13 kills. Juniors Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) and Lexi Starheim (Hubbard, OH / Hubbard) had eight and seven kills, respectively. Junior Katie Palkovic (Camp Hill, PA / Trinity) had a team-high 38 assists. On defense, senior Tara Incerpi (Carrollton, OH / Minerva) had a team-high 28 digs, while Freyermuth, Reimer, and Starheim added two blocks apiece.
In game two, Starheim and junior Megan Romocean (Ravenna, OH / Southeast) had seven kills each. Romocean also had a team-best three aces. Palkovic dished out a team-high 30 assists, while Incerpi had 18 digs and two aces. Starheim added four blocks.
Westminster will play at Geneva next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
