Voters at New Castle's St. John's precinct rally for Romney

NEW CASTLE, PA-- The early afternoon voting at the precinct inside St. John’s Lutheran Church on Highland Avenue in New Castle was slow and spotty.
Poll workers say the morning saw a large rush. It tapered off after the noon hour. Precinct judge Marmee Gurgiolo said they saw 445 voters by 2:30 p.m. She reports the precinct has 1,148 registered voters.
Electioneering at St. John’s was also slow. Only one campaigner greeted voters. The surrogate for Republican challenger Jason Murtha was on hand with cards. She championed Murtha who is taking on incumbent State Representative Chris Sainato for the 9th State House District.
Also on hand at the precinct was Lawrence County GOP chairman William Schafer. Schafer shared his vote in the election also offered his own forecast for the election results in Lawrence County.
New Castle resident Barbera Cramer shared her vote with our election coverage crew. She explained she was once a registered Democrat.
New Castle resident Wendy Wojcik talked with us as well. However, she wanted to keep her secret ballot a secret.
Joseph Noviello of New Castle took advantage of the sunshine to vote in the early afternoon at St. Johns. He says his vote focused on promoting change in the status quo.
Kaylan Zentz, a New Castle resident, echoes a theme of change we heard from other voters. She shared who she voted for with us.
