NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- Westminster's five Greek brotherhoods embraced the tradition of adding to their houses over the weekend.  Many of  the independent men on campus pledged to one of the local fraternities:  Sigma Nu, Alpha SIgma Phi, Phi Kappa Tau, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Theta Chi.

Paul Nicol, a first-year psychology major, pledged SIgma Phi Epsilon.  He was happy to find out fraternities were asking him to join.

"This week was filled with anxiety and nervousness," Nicol said.  "But it was worth it.  There's nothing better than being wanted by a brotherhood."

"It feels great to be part of a brotherhood," Sig Nu pledge Josh Mackin said. "It really makes you feel like you are part of this campus."

The pledges joined with brothers in a variety of activities slated for the day, including collegial competitions that often involve sisters from Westminster's sororities. It all ended with the traditional pick-up ceremony on the hill above Brittain Lake.

"Finally becoming a member of a fraternity is the best," Phi Tau pledge Kevin Guzak said. "The bond of brotherhood is awesome."
