Women's Basketball: Cantella's Career-High 20 Points Leads Westminster in 72-49 Win Over Bethany

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Titan senior Jenn Cantella (Freedom, PA / Freedom) scored a game- and career-high 20 points as the Westminster College women's basketball team won, 72-49, over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany College Wednesday night inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. The Titans improved to 5-7 overall and 3-2 in the conference, while the Bison dropped to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the league.


In the first half, Westminster had an early 9-2 lead with 15:59 on the clock after junior Hannah Shaffer (Apollo, PA / Apollo-Ridge) found senior Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) for a layup. Up 25-16 with 6:57 left in the half, the Titans orchestrated 11-2 run to lead 36-18 at intermission.


Westminster never lost its double-digit lead for the remainder of the game and had its largest lead of the game at the 5:06 mark in the second half when it led 67-40.


Cantella was 7-for-11 from the floor, including a game-high 5-for-6 from three-point range. Hughes, junior Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Alvernia), and senior Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, NY / Starpoint) also scored in double-digits for the Titans with 16, 14, and 12 points, respectively. Ridge led on the glass with a game-high nine rebounds. Hughes and Holko followed with eight and six boards, respectively. Holko pocketed a team-high three steals, while Cantella and junior Hannah Shaffer (Apollo, PA / Apollo-Ridge) dished-out a game-high four assists each.
