Women's Basketball: Hughes Sets Career-High, Titans Top Chatham 74-49

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Senior Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) scored a career-high 24 points (10-of-15) as the Westminster College women's basketball team won, 74-49, over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Chatham University on Saturday.
Tied 4-4 early in the first half, Westminster went on an 11-0 run to lead 15-4 with 15:18 on the clock. The Titans had their largest lead of the half when sophomore Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) scored on a layup that gave Westminster a 32-14 lead with 4:05 remaining.
Westminster maintained its double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. The Titans' largest lead was 27, when senior Katie Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) found freshman Andrea Marsh (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) for a layup that gave Westminster a 71-44 lead with 3:31 left in the game.
For the game, eight Titans registered points. Hughes scored 20 of her 24 points in the first half. Senior Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, NY / Starpoint) and sophomore Jenna Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) also scored in double figures with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Grandy had a game high three three-pointers (3-of-4). Senior Jenn Cantella (Freedom PA, Freedom) scored eight points, while junior Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Alvernia) earned five. Katie Grandy and Borts had four points each, while Marsh added two. Ridge had a game-high seven rebounds, followed by Hughes with six. Cantella dished-out a career-high eight assists.
For the game, Westminster shot 42.6% (26-of-61) and Chatham shot 32.8% (19-of-58). The Titans out-rebounded the Cougars 43-to-37.
