Women's Basketball: Titans Drop 53-50 to Hiram in Home Opener

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost 53-50 to visiting Hiram Saturday night in the Titans' home opener. The Titans dropped to 1-3 overall and the Terriers improved to 2-1.
Westminster was in the lead for most of the first half and had a 26-22 lead at halftime. Hiram battled back and took a 29-28 lead with 17:11 left in the second half. The Terriers remained ahead for the duration of the contest.
Senior Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) led the Titans with 14 points (5-of-7). Classmate Danielle Gilmore (Washington, PA / Trinity) followed with 11 points. Junior Hannah Shaffer (Apollo, PA / Apollo-Ridge) contributed six points, while senior Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, NY / Starpoint), senior Jenn Cantella (Freedom, PA / Freedom), and junior Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Alvernia) each earned five points. Cantella dished out a game-high five assists. Ridge led Westminster with 10 rebounds, while Hughes and Gilmore had six boards each.
