Women's Basketball: Titans Drop, 66-46, to Saint Vincent

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost, 66-46, to the vising Saint Vincent College Saturday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown. The Titans dropped to 8-11 overall and 6-6 in the conference, while the Bearcats improved to 14-5 overall and 10-2 in the PAC.


With the game tied 6-6 with 11:51 remaining in the first half, Westminster went on an 8-0 run to take a 14-6 lead which was capped off with a jumper from senior Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) with 8:19 on the clock. The Bearcats battled back and tied the game at 18 after a 12-4 run with 3:01 remaining in the half. The game was tied 21-21 at halftime.


Saint Vincent took the lead in its first possession in the second half with a three-pointer and never looked back. The Bearcats outscored the Titans 45-25 in the second half.  

For the game, Saint Vincent outshot Westminster 45.8% (22-for-48) to 29.8% (14-for-47).


Senior Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, NY / Starpoint) led the Titans with 13 points, followed by classmate Hughes with 12 points. Hughes and Ridge also led Westminster with seven rebounds reach. Senior Danielle Gilmore (Washington, PA / Trinity) dished-out a team-high three assists.


Ellie Collins led Saint Vincent with a game-high 25 points (8-for-12), including a game-high six three-pointers. Devin McGrath followed with a double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds and 10 points.


Westminster is back in action next Wednesday when it travels to Bethany at 6 p.m.
