Women's Basketball: Titans Seals OT Win Over Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster senior Jenn Cantella converted on four free throws in the final 10 seconds of the game as the Titan women's basketball team won, 54-51, in overtime against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Grove City Wednesday night. The Titans improved to 7-9 overall and 5-4 in the conference, while the Wolverines dropped to 6-7 overall and 5-4 in the PAC.
It was an evenly matched first half which included three ties. Grove City had its largest lead of the first half when it led 10-5 with 10:25 on the clock. Westminster took a 15-13 lead when senior Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) scored on a layup at the 5:33 mark. The game was tied 17-17 at halftime.
In the second half, Grove City had its largest lead of the game at 40-33 with 3:39 left in regulation. Westminster, however, went on a 9-2 run to tie the game at 42 with 15 seconds on the clock. The run was capped off with a layup from junior Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Alvernia), while junior Hannah Shaffer (Apollo, PA / Apollo-Ridge) earned the assist.
Holko led the Titans with 16 points (6-for-13), including a game-high three three-pointers, for her seventh-straight game in double figures. Cantella followed with 13 points. Senior Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, NY / Starpoint) added nine points to go a long with a team-high 11 rebounds. Hughes contributed with seven rebounds and six points. Rounding out the scorers for the Titans were sophomore Jenna Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) and Shaffer with seven and three points, respectively. Cantella dished-out a game-high four assists.
Westminster will host Washington & Jefferson on Saturday at 2 p.m.
