INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Westminster College women’s tennis team will face The University of Mary Washington in the opening round of regional play for the 2017 NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday, March 12. Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. will be hosting. The match time for Friday has yet to be determined.
Westminster is 15-5 overall this season, and after going 8-0 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) and being crowed PAC champions, the Titans earned the NCAA automatic qualifier. The Eagles, champions of the Capital Athletic Conference, are 19-5 on the season. The winner will play the winner of Carnegie Mellon and Messiah on Saturday in Williamstown.
This is the Titans’ third appearance in the Division III Championship, as they made the program’s first-ever trip to the national championships in 2013 and won its first ever NCAA Championship match in 2016 with a 5-1 win over Hanover College in the first round.
The group Westminster has been placed in includes Williams (15-4), who received a first round bye, Wilkes (23-0), Johnson & Wales (RI) (15-3), Carnegie Mellon (17-7), Messiah (11-7), to along with Mary Washington (19-5).
