NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.– Severe thunderstorms rocked Lawrence and Mercer counties from Thursday afternoon and early Friday morning causing scattered power outages and some minor flash flooding.
Titan Radio’s rain gauge revealed nearly 1 inch of rain fell on Westminster’s main campus in under an hour when the first wave of downpours began at 5 p.m.
In Ellwood City, officials revealed they received nearly 2.5 inches of rain at one time.
First Energy officials reported the storms brought down trees and utility wires creating blackouts for many residents. As of Friday morning, much of the power in Lawrence County had been restored.
