NEW CASTLE, Pa.–  Companies, school districts, and local residents rallied to collect 572 blankets for Lawrence County’s annual “Share the Warmth Blanket Drive.” Columbia Gas introduced this program into the New Castle several years ago to help families struggling with heating deficiencies.

“Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania is committed to keeping our community safe and warm this winter season,” said Sara M. Perry, Columbia Gas Community Engagement Manager. “We are humbled by the generosity of our employees, the community and the United Way as everyone joins together to donate blankets for this important cause.”

Volunteers collected quilts, baby knitted blankets, comforters, twin and double blankets.

Students from Shenango School District Peer Leadership Program helped organize the distribution of the blankets at the Columbia Gas Building at the New Castle location.

The blankets were distributed to the following agencies: 

  • Children’s Advocacy
  • Holy Redeemer Church
  • Crisis Shelter, Cray 1-2-1 Mentoring
  • Lawrence County Cares
  • Children’s Advocacy
  • People in Need
  • Catholic Charities
  • City Rescue Mission
  • The Lawrence County Humane Society
