NEW CASTLE, Pa.–  The Union Township Volunteer Fire Department hosts the Western Pennsylvania Balloon Quest in Lawrence County this week.

It’s the 19th year for the event where 20 hot air balloons take off from Scotland Meadows Park at 2106 Camden Ave. in New Castle.

WHAT IS A BALLOON GLOW?  THURSDAY & FRIDAY

A balloon glow is a gathering of hot air balloons that inflate at night. When the burners are ignited, the balloons come to life with brightly glowing colors and the roar of the burners.

It’s free to park and get into the event.  There are carnival rides, food booths, and games raising money for the fire department.

Organizers say the most popular attractions include the balloon launches and the tethered hot air balloon rides.  The balloon rides are on Saturday, July 14.
