NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men’s soccer team returns nine starters, including sophomore forward Peter Mattocks (Saegertown, PA / Saegertown) (All-PAC First Team) and senior midfielder Zack Walters (Hermitage, PA / Hickory) (All-PAC Honorable Mention). Mattocks led the Titans last season with a team-high 14 points and a team-best six goals.

“We are excited for the season,” said 20th-year Head Coach Girish Thakar. “We have as good of a chance as anyone else in the conference to compete for the championship. We have a good group of upperclassmen returning in addition to the newcomers who have a chance to make an impact.”

Senior midfielder Grant Gagnon (Johnstown, PA / Westmont Hilltop), senior midfielder Kornel Foremski (Shaker Heights, OH / Shaker Heights), junior midfielder Shane Fallen (Blue Bell, PA / Wissahickon), junior defenseman Gabe Roman (Easton, PA / Easton), junior goalkeeper AJ Bove (New Stanton, PA / Hempfield Area), junior defenseman Zach Medarac (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk), and junior defenseman Zach Fryda (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) round out the returning starters.

The Titans were picked to finish tied for fourth with 48 points according to the PAC’s Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Bove, Mattocks, Medarac, and Walters were all named on the PAC’s Players to Watch list.

The league’s regular season concludes Sunday, October 29 with the four-team PAC Championship Tournament scheduled to get underway Wednesday, November 1. The title match is slated for Saturday, November 4.

Westminster starts the 2017 season at the two-day Hiram College Tournament on Saturday, September 2 with a non-conference tilt against Albion College at 1:30 p.m.
