NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women’s basketball team will host its annual Play 4Kay Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday, February 10 when the Titans play Grove City College in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) contest at 1:30 p.m.

Play4Kay games, an initiative started by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), were started by the late Kay Yow, the former North Carolina State University Head Women’s Basketball Coach. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and fought the disease three times until her death in 2009. While courageously battling cancer, Coach Yow started the Kay Yow Cancer Fund which serves to raise money for scientific research and to assist the efforts to fight against women’s cancers. To date, the fund has grown nationwide and contributed over $5.2 million to support cancer research.

During Saturday’s game, there will be donations collected with proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the Titans will wear pink shirts during the pre-game warm-ups to raise cancer awareness. At halftime, Zeta Tau Alpha will be doing a free throw and half court shot contest for $1.
