NEW WLIMINGTON, PA –Late fall in New Wilmington,
Pennsylvania calls to mind images of many things; Amish buggies
clip-clopping their way along the local roads, the taste of home-made
pumpkin-spice baked goods, the beauty of sun-lit days with just a touch of
chill in the air, and the sounds of opera filling the night. Wait, opera? In
the middle of Amish country? Yes!
On Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 7:30 pm in the Will W. Orr Auditorium,
Westminster College School of Music will perform “Scenic Views,” a
collection of some of the world’s most beautiful music ever written! Under
the direction of Dr. Anne Hagan Bentz, and with music presented by Mihai
Vilcu, Conductor, Marie Libal-Smith, Pianist, and the Westminster College
Orchestra students and guest musicians, the Opera Westminster students will
bring to life the drama and romance of great scenes from Le Nozze di Figaro,
Manon, L’elisir d’amore, Csardasfurstin, Countess Mariza, Werther Boccacio,
Fidelio, Faust, Carmen, and La Traviata!
Admission is free to the public, so patrons are encouraged to arrive early
to get a good seat. Spend an evening in Amish country and let Opera
Westminster show you the world!
