NEW WILMINGTON, PA – It’s finally Christmas time again, and New Wilmington has been getting ready for the Holiday season. New Wilmington held its annual Chamber Christmas Parade followed by the 2nd official lighting of the New Wilmington Borough Park. The parade included members of the New Wilmington Fire Department and the National FFA Organization. Children of all ages were enjoying receiving candy from the floats, community workers, and jumped for joy to see Mr. & Mrs. Claus.
After the conclusion of the parade, the crowd walked towards the park light up for the first time. The park was full of carolers singing along to the music provided by Titan Radio. A pavilion was occupied to serve as a warm place to enjoy cookies, hot chocolate, and apple cider, as well as the place to look at cool Christmas crafts. The Scout House gave children the opportunity to meet and greet with Santa and receive a gift and a candy cane from Mrs. Claus.
Christmas in the Park was a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit. A time for people to come together and enjoy each other’s company and to see the joy in children’s faces that you can’t find during any other holiday, Ralphie says it best in A Christmas Story, “Lovely, glorious, beautiful Christmas, upon which the entire kid year revolved.”
