WAMPUM, Pa.– “Light Up the Town” is scheduled for Thursday Nov, 29 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lawrence County community of Wampum. Volunteers have put up the old-fashioned decorations for the season, while transforming Main Street into a timeless Christmas town.
They have luminaries lining the streets with windows decorated with seasonal scenes and themes. “Light Up” night will include fefreshments, horse drawn carriage rides and entertainment w on Main Street. Children’s activities are planned inside the Wampum Train Station and the evening will close with a full fireworks display.
December 1, 2018, visit Wampum again for the biggest small-town parade in the area! The 46th Annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade starts moving through town at 1:00 pm. It’s approximately an hour long and features homemade floats, costumed characters, marching bands, horses, dignitaries and a few surprises! Spectators can purchase refreshments at The American Legion on Beaver Street, and immediately following the Parade, Santa will be available for photos at Wampum’s gymnasium which will be adorned with displays intended to delight children!
Therese McShea, long time coordinator and volunteer stated “You can always count on the little town of Wampum, with just 600 or so residents, to celebrate Christmas in a big way!”
This celebration happens each year through the efforts of Wampum Area Business Association (WABA) and The Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee with the support of local businesses and residents. The Parade is sponsored by the Wampum American Legion Post 749, American Legion Auxiliary, Wampum Lions Club, Wampum Area Woman’s Club and WABA.
