WASHINGTON, Pa. (Titan Athletics)– The Westminster College cross country teams competed in the Washington & Jefferson College Invitational on Friday. Titan junior Katie Schrantz (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) won with a time of 21.59.30, helping the Westminster women to a first-place finish with 35 points. The Titan men’s team earned second place with 31 points.
Three other Titans for the women’s team finished in the top-10. First-year Kelly Somora (Grove City, PA / Grove City Area) finished 6th (22.49.77), sophomore Erin Ward (Euclid, OH / Lake Catholic) in 7th (22.57.93), and sophomore Marie Barnard (Millerstown, PA / Greenwood) in 10th (23.15.11). Sophomore Allison Hampton (Ten Sleep, WY / Ten Sleep) rounded of the top-5 Titan finishers in 11th (23.30.79).
Sophomore Harrison Keenan (Cranberry, PA / Cranberry) paced the Titan men’s team with a fifth-place time of 31.13.55, while classmate Chase Waldschmidt (New Castle, PA / Shenango) also finished in the top-10 in 9th (32.50.35). Rounding out the top-5 Westminster runners were junior Evan Vent (Pittsburgh, PA / South Fayette) (11th/33.28.16), senior Andrew Kearney (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley) (12th/33.30.69), and freshman Zachery Kemmer (Canfield, OH / South Range) (17th/35.01.77).
The Titans will next compete at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6.
