NEW WILMINGTON, PA –  On Friday, June 1 The Donut DAZE festival in New Wilmington is back for its third year in celebration of National Donut Day. The two day event begins with the Donut Crawl & Festival on Friday, June 1 from 5-8 pm . The festival includes live music, the Donut Crawl, donut themed games, and more. Saturday June 2 beginning at 8am is the Tour de Donut, a bike tour with up to a 60 mile route with periodic stops for a donut eating challenge.

Event organizer, Wendy Farmerie explained “We really want to embrace the fun side of the donut with this festival, so prepare yourself for a little quirky fun. From the games to the music, it’s not what you’d expect from a typical event. ”

The Crawl itself has expanded to enable even more donut makers to participate. Donut crawl levels include; Coma level ($35) is all 15 donut vendors, The Crawl ($25) is 10 donut vendors, Creep ($15) is 5 donut vendors. All three levels of the Donut Crawl include a mug and the choice to fill it once with milk, coffee or lemonade. For festival goers wanting just a donut or two,singles will be available from a selection of the 15, but they’ll be spread along the donut crawl. The donuts makers represented will be Apple Castle, Amish Donuts, Amazing Glaze, Carol’s Pastry Shop, Classic Bakery, Freedom Farms Donut Shop,Krakus Polish Deli, Mac’s Donuts, May’s Do-Nuts,Nova Coffee, Pizza Joe’s,Stangl’s Bakery, Sweet Chessie’s Bakery, Valencia Donut Co, and Whitehouse Farms with drinks from The Confluence, Nova Coffee and Windy Ridge Dairy. Registration for Tour de Donut on Saturday, June 2 will be Westminster College Field House beginning at 8am. This is also where riders will begin on one of three possible routes through the beautiful Amish Countryside. New this year is a hill challenge option, which is 43 miles. Those who complete their route, as well as their challenge, will receive the coveted donut medallion – Gluten free options are available! Registration costs $20 and includes a goodie bag as well as a limited edition t-shirt. Coffee will be available for purchase prior to the event. Pre-registration is open until May 19 at www.nwtourdedonut.com. While registrations will be accepted after that date, t-shirts and medallions will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
