NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – (Titan Athletics) Westminster College senior safety Aaron Pierce (Fort Lauderdale, FL / Hollywood) was selected to the Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware.
Pierce returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns in Thursday’s season-opening win against Capital. His 97-yard return gave the Titans a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter and his 50-yard score came just four offensive plays later. Pierce is the first Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) player since Thomas More’s Marcus Lancaster (at Bethany, Oct. 23, 2010) to return two interceptions for touchdowns in a game. Pierce was also named the PAC Defensive Player of the Week.
This is the 21st season that has selected the Team of the Week, which honors the top player nationally at each position from the previous week.
Westminster will return to the field this weekend when it opens up the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) schedule at home against Waynesburg University on Saturday, September 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
