NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Titan Athletics) – Matt Torrence ’93 will begin his sixth season as the men’s head golf coach, while also beginning his second season as the women’s head coach for the 2018-19 seasons.
The men return nine golfers from last season, including All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Second Team selection senior Connor White (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland). White finished tied for 10th at the 2018 PAC Championships, while the Titans placed fifth at the PAC Championships. Among the returners are senior Frank Pantano (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland), juniors Avery Andric (Lisbon, OH / Lisbon David Anderson) and David Callihan (Harrison City, PA / Penn-Trafford), and sophomores Connor Chidorian (Cheswick, PA / Deer Lakes), Dylan John (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area), Kolby Montgomery (Rimersburg, PA / Union), Jonny Stuckert (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills), and Joshua Veon(Cranberry Twp., PA / Seneca Valley).
The women’s team, who placed third at the 2018 PAC Championships, returns three golfers from last year, including All-PAC Honorable Mention recipient Emily Marcus (South Park, PA / South Park). Marcus finished tied for 12th at the PAC Championships. Junior Annika Erdely (Perryopolis, PA / Frazier), an All-PAC Second Team honoree in 2017, along with junior Alexa Hutchinson (Geneva, OH / Geneva) and sophomore Mariah Hoff (Vienna, OH / Matthews) round out the women returners.
The Titan men add four newcomers, including three freshmen. The women add two new players, including one newcomer.
The Westminster men were picked to finish fourth in the PAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, totaling 27 points, while the women were picked to place second, totaling two of the five first-place votes and 31 points.
Both the men and women start the seasons on the road. The men travel to the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford on Saturday, September 1. The women open the season at the University of Mount Union on Sunday, September 9. The Titans host the Westminster Invitational, with the women hosting on Saturday, September 22 and then men on Monday, September 24. The Fall PAC Championships, held in Vienna, Ohio, will be held on Monday, October 1 and will run through Tuesday, October 2.
