COVID-19 forces cancellation of the 2020 Lawrence County Fair

NEW CASTLE, Pa.-- The Lawrence County Fair organizers announced they are canceling this year's event because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The county fair board went public with the announcement on social media. The shared an official letter online and said the fair would return Aug. 16-21, 2021.

"It is with shattered hearts that we (the Board of Directors) have made the painful decision to cancel the Fair for 2020," the post on its Facebook page announced. "The comeback is always greater than the setback!! We hope to see you all in 2021! We realize many of you are upset by this decision, but we ask you to refrain from the name-calling and inappropriate comments. The Board of Directors is made up of volunteers. Please try and be respectful!"
