HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP & WCN) — Confirmed cases of the coronavirus are approaching 60,000 in Pennsylvania, and related deaths have exceeded 4,200.

Cases in Lawrence County:  71 positive, 7 deaths

Cases in Mercer County: 81 positive, 2 deaths

The state on Thursday reported 275 additional deaths, with more than 40 of them newly recorded and the rest over the past several weeks.

Health officials also reported nearly 940 new infections as Gov. Tom Wolf lifts a stay-at-home order and tightest pandemic restrictions on business activity across western Pennsylvania starting Friday. Still, two-thirds of residents are expected to remain under the tightest restrictions past this week as several Republican-controlled counties say they're moving ahead with plans to defy him by lifting some pandemic rules.
