NEW CASTLE, Pa.-- The City of New Castle Police Department is taking action to follow guidelines for limiting police officers' exposure the the coronavirus outbreak. The NCPD will follow the plan used by federal and state officials for first responders while also protecting and serving the community.
NCPD officials posted the plan the on it's official Facebook page on Wednesday. It explained the move is a way to limit exposure to the public and to make sure officers stay healthy in order to continue to protect and serve.
"The NCPD will try to limit exposure by not responding in person to any calls and reports that can be handled by phone. Officers will continue to patrol and be highly visible in the community, but they will limit unnecessary physical contact with the public. As always, the NCPD will respond to any emergency or calls which necessitate an actual physical response."
Residents are asked to avoid coming to the police department. Instead, you should contact NCPD's non-emergency phone number at 724-656-9300 to be contacted by an officer.
