NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The 2020-2021 Collegiate Academic year has been very different for all students, but for this Westminster College first-year it’s a little bit more unusual under the restrictions and stress of the pandemic. First-year Ryan Romero is a double major in Marketing and Strategic Social Media.

What’s so different in Ryan’s case is this isn’t his first time at college. Ryan is twenty-one years old and spent two semesters at Penn State University. After a few semesters off Ryan transferred here to Westminster to continue his peruse his academic career as well as play with the Titan men’s lacrosse team.

Ryan Romero

“I loved the size of Westminster compared to Penn State, here everyone knows everyone, and it feels like more of a community” Romero said.

Being from Port Matilda, Pa., he felt Penn State was a little too close to home. What really sold Ryan on transferring to Westminster was how students he met when he visited stayed in touch with him.

“Last year when I visited for lacrosse, I had a great time with all of the guys on the team and most if not all of the guys I met stayed in touch with after my visit which really stood out to me.”

We asked Ryan how he has been adjusting to being a student athlete at Westminster.

“Being a student athlete is definitely challenging but, the most Important thing you need to do is manage your time. Everyone on the team also push each other and to make sure we are managing our time well.”
